Announcing a new Ash Grove Music Project:

Beyond November
Party with a Purpose

Beyond November, bringing together an assortment of advocacy and social action organizations, will produce an ongoing series of events to entertain, to inform and to enthuse by tapping into the vast energy for positive change sparked by the Obama campaign. The culmination this year will be a large free two-day festival in Summer, 2009, that will have entertainment on stage (artists such as Ben Harper, Tom Morello, Michelle Shocked, Culture Clash, Laura Love, Paul Krassner, Robyn Tyler, plus community artists and speakers), and an area where health, housing and other service organizations will provide direct counseling, referrals and aid to people who need it, and visitors can learn about and join groups and/or actions around these critical issues.

A series of community shows
will lead up to and follow this main event, including the following:

Philip Melnick's Photography

Starting in 1958, photographer Philip Melnick captured the Ash Grove's historic folk and blues concerts. As the club's first general manager, he worked closely with performers such as Lightnin' Hopkins, Doc Watson, and John Lee Hooker. His photographs serve as a terrific visual accompaniment to our newly released Ash Grove concerts.
