"The Ash Grove" is a story that must be told by those who were there, a rich fabric of voices recounting the excitement, the drama and the conflict inherent in both the Ash Grove club and the era.

A current documentary team has begun gathering archival footage and filming interviews with performers such as Taj Mahal and Pete Seeger, as well as with former workers from the club and founding impresario Ed Pearl. More interviews are yet to be done of other performers and workers, such as the waitress who married Roger McGuinn of the Byrds, the now-prominent federal judge who started as the club's lawyer,and audience members including rock journalist Robert Hilburn (LA Times), singer Mick Jagger, FBI operatives, and arson experts, and a long list of emerging artists who hung around the Ash Grove, absorbing the unique mix of music, culture and politics --artists like Bob Dylan, Roger Mcguinn, Joan Baez, Jim Croce, Dave Von Ronk, Arlo Guthrie, Bonnie Raitt, the Chambers Brothers, Leo Kotke, Linda Ronstadt, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Country Joe McDonald, all of whom would create the musical explosion that followed.
